I’ve spent my career at the bleeding edge of marketing with extensive online (since 1994), search marketing (since 2000), and social media (since 2004) experience.
After 13 years at Eastman Kodak in the professional photography and printing verticals, I moved to the Twin Cities to join WAM!NET, a Web 1.0 tech start-up that built the largest private IP network in the late 1990’s. After the dot-com bubble burst, I moved to Datalink, an enterprise storage VAR to start-up and run their professional services group. While at Datalink, I discovered blogging and podcasting and started Winecast, the first wine podcast, in 2004. By 2006, I was getting enough interest from wineries to launch my own social marketing practice named Acan Media (after the Mayan god of wine). This practice has grown to encompass both wineries and tech companies including Comcast and Oracle. In my spare time, I occasionally teach online marketing at Concordia University in St. Paul.
So I have traditional marketing and brand management experience, have worked in both B-to-B and B-to-C and actively participate in social media as a content creator and adviser. You can find me online at a number of places but mostly here, my wine blog and company blog.
